Traditional Chinese Medicine & Acupuncture are rooted in the concept of equilibrium. To achieve optimal health one must be in a state of balance, or the smooth running of all bodily systems. When balance is achieved our bodies operate at their fullest potential.

Chronic pain, stress, and other health conditions can cause a disruption in the body's homeostasis. Headaches, muscle tension, and fatigue are a few common symptoms of imbalance.

WHAT IS ACUPUNCTURE?

Acupuncture is an ancient form of East-Asian medicine which works to facilitate the body's natural healing capability by utilizing fine needles at specific points on the body to promote health and healing. Bodywork, dietary therapy, exercise and lifestyle recommendations are also part of the scope of acupuncture.

Does Acupuncture Hurt?

Perhaps the most common question we receive as acupuncturists is whether it is painful. The majority of patients do not describe acupuncture as being painful, but rather an informative experience in which you might feel sensations of heaviness, dullness, or tingling sensations around acupuncture points. Such sensations signal the start of the body working towards homeostasis.

WHAT can i expect at my appointment?

During your acupuncture session we will start with a discussion of the main reason you are seeking acupuncture. A detailed history of your general health will also be discussed to help further develop an appropriate treatment plan. A review of previous treatments will be discussed at each subsequent session to note any evolution and progression so that treatments continue to be unique to your body's needs. First time appointments are approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes. Follow up appointments are approximately 1 hour.

HOW MANY sessions WILL I NEED?

Acupuncture treatments have a cumulative healing effect. Chronic holding patterns that our bodies develop over time can often take a series of treatments to unravel. Since everyone responds differently to acupuncture, the number of necessary treatments vary from patient to patient.
